The classic fall road trip usually involves football, festivals, or foliage. In my case, it involves the FAA. For a variety of reasons I have been traveling to a variety of places. I have noticed something consistent with them all. Ever so slightly, I am noticing people starting to relax just a little. Not wholesale changes but small, incremental modifications of attitude and behavior.

People from all roles are beginning to work together for the common good...to find common ground....and to make this agency a better place to work. It takes courage to be the first one to reach out in the name of healing. I encourage you, whoever you are and whatever your position, to be the first to do so in your workgroup. Everyone in a given facility, district, or office has something of value to contribute. I challenge everyone to find your own strengths and to recognize the strengths of others.

As for me, I will be reaching out at a variety of locations over the next month, the first of which is the FAAMA conference in Las Vegas next week. My office, Organizational Effectiveness, will be on-site as an exhibitor. We will be there as part of the Strategy and Performance group with several of our sister offices.
