Do you work with the best?
by James GraysonI know I have always felt that way. Whether it was my time as a controller, a TMC, or a Front Line Manager, I have always felt like those that I worked with were some of the best there was. I imagine you do too. And you know what, we’re right.
As we are working our way out of 214 (BTW, I now consider that a noun!), I think an important part of that will be to remember and recognize my opening thoughts. Because of that, I encourage everyone to recognize their people whenever appropriate and through whatever means you might have. You have probably noticed that ATO Comm is starting to run more stories on the “big” stuff and I think that is great. I’m a day-to-day kind of guy myself and that is what I would like to focus on here.

So…if the people you work with have a good day, share it. It doesn’t have to be earth-shattering in our minds and here’s why. We work with such high performing people every day that our perspective cannot help but become skewed. The general public would be amazed at what we walk away from at the end of the day as if it was nothing extraordinary.
Think of this as an exercise with two objectives. First, I would love to share with our readers what our world is like, even on a “normal” day. My other reason is a little more selfish. If this makes us stop and think about what those around us accomplish…if it makes us say “thanks” when we might have taken it for granted otherwise…if it makes coming to and being at work a little better….well, then all the better for all of us, right?
Submit those thoughts and stories and we’ll post them here.
