IdeaHub launched today. It did so with great fanfare and with a high turnout both online and in person at various launch day activities. It was recognized through a variety of releases and emails and it is being touted as the next big step forward in employee engagement and communications.

And you know what....it is all that and more. The activity on the site, especially from our FAA people, is fantastic! There are tons of great ideas already submitted and more importantly, at least to me, there are lots of comments and ratings. The development of a community is already occurring.

As an agency that carries as its ultimate mission the safety of everyone directly or indirectly involved, risk is something we are taught to manage at best and to avoid at worst.

Almost three years ago, I sat in a conference room with a group of people brainstorming ideas about how to make this agency, and specifically the ATO, better. The room was filled with extremely intelligent and passionate people who were dedicated to making a difference. As we went around the room sharing our thoughts and ideas, some were smaller and more traditional and others were larger and more unconventional.
